For most visas, the process takes 30–60 minutes to complete online or in-person. Here's the flow:
Check which visa category applies: visa-free, VOA, eVisa, or embassy visa.
Use the checklist above. Original documents + clear photocopies.
Go directly to the official embassy or government website. No agents needed.
Only pay through the official portal. Keep your payment receipt.
For embassy visas, book your biometrics/interview appointment online.
Submit documents, attend interview if required, then track your application.
These are the only legitimate places to apply. Look for .gov domains. Bookmark these — never use links from WhatsApp or social media.
For most Schengen countries, apply through VFS Global in Accra. Start at the link below to book your appointment.
These platforms are legitimate and charge a service fee on top of the official visa cost. They can help if you find the process difficult — but they cannot guarantee approval.
Follow these to maximise your chances of approval and protect your money and documents.
USA/UK/Canada: Apply 2–3 months in advance. Schengen: Apply 6–12 weeks ahead. Processing times are unpredictable and appointment slots fill up fast.
Large unexplained cash deposits made close to your application date are a major red flag. Embassies review 3–6 months of statements. Let your balance grow consistently over time.
Submitting forged or altered documents results in permanent visa bans — sometimes for 10 years or for life. No scam agent is worth ruining your travel history forever.
Only visit visa portals linked directly from official embassy websites. Fake visa sites steal your money and data. Look for .gov domains. Never use links from WhatsApp groups.
The biggest reason visas are rejected is that officers aren't convinced you'll return. Employment letters, property documents, spouse and children's presence in Ghana all help.
Passport photos must meet strict dimensions — wrong photos cause immediate rejection at submission. Use embassy-approved photography studios in Accra.
Anyone who promises you a guaranteed visa is lying. Only the embassy decides. If an agent guarantees approval, they are either lying or filing fraudulent documents on your behalf.
Ghana is on the UK's mandatory TB test list. You CANNOT apply without it. Visit an approved clinic in Accra or Kumasi first. The test takes a few days to process.
For Schengen and USA especially, a cover letter explaining who you are, why you're visiting, where you're staying, and why you'll return to Ghana greatly improves your chances.
Always submit both original documents AND clear photocopies of each one. Organise them in the exact order specified by the embassy. Disorganised applications signal carelessness.
Every visa application comes with a reference number. Use the official embassy portal to track your application. You do not need an agent to "check" on your visa for you.
If you've held a US, UK, Schengen, or Canadian visa before — even expired ones — include your old passports. A good travel history dramatically improves approval chances.
These are not always mandatory but significantly boost your chances of approval across all destinations.
Walk-ins are NOT allowed at any of these centres. You must book an appointment online first. All addresses are verified as of 2025.
